The most miserable day is Monday 16th January – so laugh through it

Old Spitalfields Market hopes to transform Monday 16 January - dubbed ‘the most miserable day of the year’ or ‘Blue Monday’ - into one where Londoners can laugh their way through lunchtime.

According to psychologists, a combination of broken New Year’s resolutions, financial strains and typically poor weather conspire to make the third Monday of January a truly dismal day. This year it will fall on Monday 16th.

Core Facts

  1. To beat the blues, Old Spitalfields Market is running a free Laughter Workshop between 12.30pm - 2pm from laughter experts behind the Laughter Network.

  2. The event will include ‘Laughter Yoga’ (beginners welcome!) and Laughter Games to induce laughter.

  3. Places are limited to the first 50 people. For more information visit: www.oldspitalfieldsmarket.com

Quotes

“Mondays are always bad enough and everyone’s already depressed a bit because of the economy...so we thought what would Londoners rather do? Hide under the duvet, feel depressed for the day or have a laugh over lunchtime that will hopefully carry them through the rest of the week?!”
