There is one country where one in four babies die before they are five, where one in eight mothers die in childbirth - it is one of the least developed in the world. That country is Sierra Leone.
There is one charity with an orphanage, a school and a medical centre that is committed to helping all the children. That charity is All As One.
Award-winning production company th1ng (www.th1ng.com) donated its services to All As One to write, direct and produce a promotional film to help the charity raise the money it needs to expand its facilities.
The charity recently purchased land in Grafton, on the fringe of the countrys capital Freetown, to build expanded facilities, including an enlarged hospital, school, children’s centre, residential and administration buildings.
Only approximately 36% of people in Sierra Leone have access to medical care. The All As One Hospital would target infants and children under the age of five and women who are at risk during childbirth, as well as addressing other medical concerns. This small hospital (50-75 beds) would serve thousands of Sierra Leonean children and families each year.
Sierra Leone has one of the worlds lowest adult literacy rates in the world at 30%. All As One aim to build a much larger school to provide primary and junior secondary education to the children in its care and the surrounding community. The first phase of this project would provide a primary education for at least 300 children each term.
There are an estimated 340,000 orphans in Sierra Leone. All As One will build an expanded orphanage for up to 150 children, who would otherwise die or be left homeless. The vision for the new Childrens Center is to build three new homes for the children -- one for the girls, one for the boys and ones for infants and toddlers.
In addition, a new administration building for the entire compound, guest quarters, a centrally located cafeteria/kitchen with large dining hall, plus a soccer playing field and playground for the children, are part of the charitys plans.
The film was launched at the Middle East PR Congress, which invited All As One to be its nominated charity. Dominic Buttimore was a keynote speaker and unveiled the film on the charity's behalf.

Since 1997 All As One has provided care to Sierra Leones most vulnerable children. With no government-funded welfare system, the charitys work gives them a chance for a better future. When we heard that All As One was embarking on an urgent round of funding to build a new complex of facilities, we wanted to do all we could to help it meet those targets quickly.
Giving All As One a powerful story to take to investors, supporters and key stakeholders through fund-raising events, marketing and PR was something we could do to really help.
Dominic Buttimore, Executive Producer at th1ng
th1ng has provided All As One with a truly inspiring film that will support our fund-raising and efforts to turn the spotlight on to the plight of children in Sierra Leone.
On behalf of our founder Executive Director Deanna Wallace, our volunteers in Sierra Leone, USA, UK and the Gulf States, I would like to thank Dominic and his team at th1ng. They gave us their time, talent and resources pro bono and in the film given us a long-lasting legacy to help us achieve our aims.
