The Plaza on Londons famous Oxford Street is hosting a Stars in their Eyes-style music festival in aid of three London charities.
Celebrity look-a-likes Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra will be playing live from 17th March on a baby grand piano which will be donated by The Plaza at the end of the festival to the charity who receives the most public votes.
The baby grand is a unique and striking piano, painted in patriotic British designs by Lee Campbell, a leading contemporary artist whose work was recently exhibited at the Florence Biennale.
The three performers are representing the Brit Trust, Nordoff Robbins and the Rainbow Trust Childrens Charity.
The Brit Trust gives young people a chance to express their musical creativity, similarly to Nordoff Robbins London which uses the power of music to help children and adults affected by illness and disability. Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.
Visitors to The Plaza can enjoy live performances of classics such as Blue Eyes, Isnt She Lovely and My Way knowing that every vote will go towards supporting a very special cause. Every person casting a vote will be entered into a free prize draw to win prizes totalling £200 worth of iTunes vouchers from The Plaza.
Performance schedule: Wednesday 17th March: Elton John, as performed by John Ellis for Nordoff Robbins. Wednesday 24th March: Frank Sinatra by Paul Holgate and pianist for Rainbow Trust Childrens Charity. Wednesday 31st March: Stevie Wonder by Shenton Dixion for The Brit Trust.
Performances take place at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Press Photo call: Wednesday 17th March at 1.30pm.
Visitors can vote at The Plaza (at ballot boxes by the grand piano on the ground floor), or on The Plazas Facebook site www.facebook.com/theplazaoxfordstreet, which will feature videos of all performances.
We have a great line-up for visitors to The Plaza in March, and by taking our festival onto Facebook we are giving many more the opportunity to enjoy our entertainment, choose a home for the baby grand and win some new music with iTunes.
